Sept 21, 2011 Letter from Bhau Kalchuri Re Urban Sahavas:

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

My dearest Laughing Mother,

I received your loving email dated 20 September, with your Chicago Urban Sahavas Report. Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a gift from you and from all who joined the program. Now they have become “amar,” immortal. They will be with me all the time, in my heart. What a connection – internal. Nobody will know the effect of this connection, but the will get the benefit direct. I not only pray for them, but so long as I am alive, I will go on praying every day.

So my Mummy Fereshteh, you are really very, very fortunate. You are responsible for this, whatever you are doing. Jai ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! Jai Jai kar Ho! In my treasury box, you will always be there, along with your companions, and you don’t know what my prayer does.

But the best thing is the direct approach to Baba. Just leave everything to Him and do whatever you are doing. You and all your companions have come in contact with Baba and have the direct approach to Him.

Such beautiful pictures of the group! Jai ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! Jai Jai kar Ho yours, and all those who are with you in the pictures!  Jai ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho!!! Jai Jai kar Ho!

I have sent the King of Chicago (Jordan) to attend the program and just bow down to everyone, and he will do. The report is coming to me that he is doing this, without sparing anyone. He also has a Queen (Roberta). He is the King of Chicago. So you may laugh at him, or praise him, he will go on bowing down to each one. Such a King who comes here, spends six months here with me, and goes back to Chicago.

The Queen is also good, very, very good, the best. She also does not care for anything – India! She has concern with India. Such a Queen and King – impossible to get. They have so much concern about Baba – just Baba. Six months!

There was another Queen of New York (from Chicago). She is still here, and after two weeks she will go to New York direct and take her seat there. Nobody knows her in New York. She is going direct to New York, and for the first time. Previously, she would come together with King and Queen of Chicago to see me. She is still here, but she will take the charge after two weeks in New York. She is happy. She does not feel shy, because nobody knows her. This is the first time she will go to New York and take her seat. Maharani! Anna Prescott.

Such persons are with me, all Queens, and seven Queens are with me. They are permanent. They will not go anywhere, and King also is here. He has to take care of seven Queens. He cannot move his feet away from me, because he is duty-bound.

So when the King of Chicago bows down to you, don’t think that he is doing this. He is doing it because of my order. It is for you all to learn from him. Why is he doing this? Under order. I am happy that I get good report about him. They are working under order and they have no idea what they are earning while living there. They think, “I am serving Him…” But even if you try to know what it means, you will not know – so better not to try!

Jai Ho! Jai Ho!! Jai Ho, my dearest Laughing Mother, and all dear ones who attended the Chicago Urban Sahavas, and

With all love and Jai Baba to you,

In His Love and Service,

Bhau

————————————————————————————————————————————————–

We are very happy to announce Dr Krishna Kant, a renowned Indian musician’s unexpected but welcome visit to Chicago this Saturday, August 27th.  We are trying to arrange for a concert at the Center during our Celebrating the Divine program from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and what a better way to celebrate Mandali Month than to listen to the heart songs of Kabir to the Beloved. Please stay tuned for more information — also we are looking for a tabla player…. if you know a tabla player in Chicago who would be available to accompany Dr Krishna Kant, please let me know asap… If we find a tabla player at such short notice, we will have a full concert, otherwise we will still have an intimate gathering with him and his guitar, playing love songs to the Divine Beloved…

A brief Bio:
Krishna Kant Shukla gave up his job as assistant professor of astronomy at an American college and returned to his native India to live his dream of singing bhajans (Indian devotional songs expressing love for the Divine). A distinguished lecturer with a Ph.D. in solid state physics now turned musician, his love for Varanasi, oldest living city in the world and holy city of India, and his passion for music “combine to serve as his breath for survival”. “Time stands still in Varanasi” Dr. Kant Shukla has said and “music is in my blood,… singing makes me come alive”. His bhajan performances at various cities in India have won him accolades. He has performed at the London Mela as a distinguished guest of the Mayor of London, but of more particular interest to Baba lovers is that Krishna has sung for Meher Baba’s old disciples at Meherazad, where, according to Meherabad resident Peter Booth, his “performance was one of the most moving and powerful I have experienced in thirty years.”
Please also note – Dr Kant does not charge for his performance, since he plays for the love of God… however he will accept donations to help defray the cost of his travels and the hiring of a tabla player…
Please visit his web site for more information.

Avatar Meher Baba Center of Chicago – First Annual General Meeting

Dear Chicago Baba Family,

Jai Meher Baba! With the upcoming first Annual Meeting of the Avatar Meher Baba Center of Chicago, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank once again all of you who lovingly supported the development of the new Center and made it become a physical reality. Since our first meeting in September, 2010, we have accomplished a great deal in a relatively short period of time: securing a physical space, making it ready, and furnishing it with the loving donations of various people. We developed the Bylaws and Guiding Principles to help us charter a path to running the Center. We had our opening events, and have started regular meetings of coming together in His Love. We are now ready to embark on the next phase of further strengthening and growing the Center.

Our upcoming Annual Meeting will afford each of us a renewed opportunity to get involved and take an active role in the Center development and growth. The Annual meeting, like all other meetings, is open to all. We have the Board positions, and all the various committees that will be the foundation of the ongoing running of the Center activities. I urge and encourage each of us to take an active role in one or two aspects of the ongoing activities of the Center. Together, we can accomplish much, and strengthen Meher Baba’s presence in Chicago. The Bylaws are structured such that the Center will run on democratic principles, based on membership input and participation. So we each have an opportunity to get involved and make a difference. In Baba’s own words:

the spiritual preparation of the aspirant can never be termed complete unless he has learned the art of rendering service that gives not boredom but joy, that brings not enslavement but freedom, that does not set claims and counterclaims but springs from the spontaneity of free give-and-take, that is free from the burden of personal want, and that is sustained by the sense of ever-renewed fulfillment.
